While the areas above permanent snow line are bereft of vegetation, but the areas below support confier forests of chir kail, spruce fir, neozapine and stately deodar - 'the tree of gods' - with massive girth and height. In the lower altitudes there are splendid broad-leafed species - short, stout trees with dense foliage - varieties of oak, walnut, maple, juniper, horse chestnut etc.

The Pabbar Valley cedar - cedrus deodara - is regarded as one of the world's four varieties of cedar, the other three come from the Mediterranean region. Well over two hundered important medicinal and aromatic plants grow in the verdant valleys of Pabbar.
